Janet J. Lawler is a screenwriter, playwright, and published author with a journalistic storyteller’s edge. She’s a two-time Austin Film Festival semifinalist, Nicholl quarterfinalist, and PAGE finalist for screenwriting — and a three-time Los Angeles Emmy® winner for her work in television news. Janet’s plays have appeared on stages across the country. Her latest play, “Bette Davis and The Hollywood Canteen,” is currently in development.
A native New Yorker now based in Los Angeles, Janet writes bold, character-driven stories fueled by real-world stakes. Off the page, Janet is married, loves exploring retro LA, visiting National Parks, walking her dog Lucy, and volunteering in her community.
